Superbowl

It seems we may be starting a dare I say "tradition". For the last couple of years we've gotten together with a friend for Superbowl and we were able to do this again this year. Bonus, this year, I got to be a part of it! Last year I worked truck, but that schedule has changed so I get to be a witness to superbowl and a partaker of the best queso around-thank you Alex! Here's a sweet shot of the kids. Maybe if we ever go to a widescreen we can have people here.

MLK Zoo day

The weekend of MLK Nick was busy ripping our house apart and putting it back together. I on the other hand, had to get the kids out. That Monday everyone was out of school and weather was beautiful so I took the kids to the zoo. There is always a special treat when we go to the zoo and it's different every time. This time something that had never happened before is we actually saw the black bears and they were up close and personal and even playing together and growling. Here's a couple of shots. It was different doing it without a stroller. I think I really like this stage!

New Year, New Floor, New House!

It's a new year and my sweet husband has taken on the project of ripping out all our carpeting and replacing it with laminate. It has been quite a project that has had to take place in phases. Fortunately, his brother Chris made a special trip (all the way from Chicago!) to help lay it all out and make all the special cuts. Thank you Chris for your generosity and letting us crack the whip on you! We were also richly blessed by friends loaning us an array of tools-thank you you know who you are! Most of all, I really want to thank Nick for taking this on. It was no small project as he had to bust tile up, rip carpet up, and cut and lay all the new pieces as well as figure out a 6-7 inch trim in our living room (where the previous owner had carpeted the bottom portion side walls!), and finally add beautifully done transitions into our step down living room space. I told some friends it was like moving in that we also had to pack up our living room and move out all the furniture which is no small potatoes- thank you Mitch and David for your help with this! It turned out gorgeous! I couldn't be more happy! The space included our front foyer, our hallway, and our living room. It really feels like a brand new house. See for your self. If you aren't in to pictures, you need to scroll down! There are before and after and even some during shots!

House Projects

Our 2012 has started with house updates. This is what our Christmas requests were centered around. We received a lovely new spread for our bedroom from Gail. Thank you!! It was fun updating our room with some new creamy colors. It really brightened it up. Also, I loved bringing in the peacocks. I'm sure I'll add a personal touch once we get into summer months- when my crafting really gears up. Also, we had some items that were re-purposed from other rooms so it ended up not costing us too much extra. My goal was to get rid of the red. Check out the pics! The last update will be in our restroom, but that probably won't happen until much later in this year.

Happy New Year!

Nick and I got a special treat for New Year's this year- a babysitter! It was our first New Year's out of our home in I think 6 years. WOW! We had a fun night downtown and got to stay in a hotel and just have fun. We went dancing and had adult beverages. It was just fun to feel young and free again. Thanks Nana & Papa! What a fun way to ring in the new year.

This year we were with Nick's family for Christmas down south. We had 20 people and three large dogs in a house for a week and I think everyone left alive so that's pretty much a miracle there! No really, everyone actually got along fairly well. It was a nice visit with family and some down time to relax. Enjoy the pics!

Here we are with my clan celebrating Christmas the weekend before. Check out our slideshow to see the fun. This year we found a fun new game-decorate Papa as the Christmas tree. In the boys true form they made a Menorah for the tree topper. Other than that, we had a real nice time just opening gifts and hanging out. Also included are a couple of shots of the kids opening their gifts from us- new shoes, a couple of new shirts, and BIKES! Can't wait for warmer weather to really get those moving!

Class Parties for Christmas

Although I'm a tad bit behind, it Valentine's and I'm posting about Christmas I still wanted to post this! Here are some pics from the kids class parties. Isaac's little preschool made these shirts with footprints and I thought they were so clever. Of course, I could only get him to wear it once, but now that's it's Valentine's he may go for it. (He has been asking for Halloween movies now...so there you go!) Vivian's class party turned out really well. The kids made gingerbread houses and had a good time eating supplies too. Many mom's helped and I think the kids appreciated it. I wanted to post these because I didn't get any pics of Vivian's class Valentine's party. Bummer!
