Signs of Fall

Here are a few pictures that represent this beautiful time of year. Early in the season, Vivi would see pumpkins and say "Mommy look pumpkins-your favorite time of the year!" She started saying it with all kind of signs of fall-scarecrows, mums, etc. She's right; I truly love the fall because of the mild temperatures and the start of so many things. Honestly, I think it's one of the times it's hard to deny a creator as nature just turns beautiful! Unfortunately, I haven't caught a sunset on my camera but hopefully these others will bring a smile to your face.

Wild West Fest

This year, we headed to the wildwest fest, but it didn't have all that last year did. Still, we tried to enjoy what we could. We certainly had fun milking the cows, and playing this mexican version of a "cake/candy" walk. All the mechanical bulls and horses were fun too. Enjoy!

A New Closet?

Okay Dons blog readers, I have an interesting kind of different post about closets. I have joined a new women's Bible study that has been talking about our "thought" closets and I guess it had me thinking about closets and all kinds of things. I have also started working and received a fabulous coupon to create a new closet.

So...here is where my life is intersecting in a new way. Nick and I decided we'd design a new closet. I believed this process would be fairly easy and quick-WRONG! First we had to come up with what we wanted in our "new closet". This involved a lot of back and forth and lists of what items we have and want to keep and what we "need" in our closets. After many back and forth conversations and drawings we finally got the design down.

Then we had to purge our old closet. (This also has me thinking about what one of the women shared in study today. It's hard to get a new item/thought in our closet when it's filled with the old items/thoughts. We have to get rid of old stuff to make room for new. Think about that one!) The getting rid of stuff was very time consuming and painful in a way as I've grown accustomed to having all kinds of "junk" in my old closet that didn't seem like "junk" to me but now has made ample room for organizing the stuff I want to keep in my closet. (Again, run all this through the thought analogy!)

I am posting a couple of pictures of our transformation. I can say I am very pleased with my new closet and it has made getting ready in the morning easier and more enjoyable. But there are some mornings I get confused or even think about the old closet. Most of the time it's with a sigh of relief or smile. All, I can say is the process of transforming a closet of any kind is involved, intentional, somewhat painful, but very rewarding!
PS I had to sneak one shot of my kids cleaning out of their toy box. This one may have been more painful for mommy!

Welcome fall! I'm loving all these cooler temperatures in the mornings and late evenings especially. Now if we can get it to stay cool all day. It will come. A few weekends back we enjoyed our first fall function- a day at Calloway's nursery with our cousin and lots of pumpkins. Enjoy the slideshow.

Is Summer Really Over?

I don't know if my kids think so. Check out these cuties who came in drenched this day and made a full meal deal this other night. I think we've held on to it as long as we could.
