Tex Mex Hero

One of my "finds" on the Austin shopping trip came from Chuy's restaurant. I couldn't pass up these t-shirts, so I brought back matching for daddy and daughter. Vivi immediately asked to put it on and if she could "Jam Up" to guitar hero. Check her out jammin to "School's out for Summer"! Daddy got to "jam up" first though. I love my little family!

Shopping weekend

Well, it's been a crazy couple of weeks around here and although I don't have tons of shots I did capture a couple from a FUN FUN tax free shopping weekend with girlfriends. We drove together and talked, ate junk, and belted out "Mamma Mia" the whole way to South Austin. The girls really treated me right with a yummy birthday dinner at Eastside cafe. We took some shots in the herb/veggie garden. Thanks for the sweet cupcakes as well- I'm so sorry I don't have a pic of those. They had "J's" and "30" so you can guess what b-day it is. Saturday we continued the fun with a shop till you drop mentality. I took a break with Shawna for a nice lunch at the Grillmist and joined up with Elise. We ended the fun after more shopping on Sunday. It was such a treat and thanks to our hubbies for leaving us kid free for a weekend of much needed girl-time.

IKEA day

I'm a little behind in the blogging world but I wanted to post some cute shots of Vivi at IKEA. I went with another close friend Rachel, who's also expecting and is reworking her nursery to fit a little boy with her little girl. We had lots of fun playing and hopefully helped and not hindered Rachel. Thanks for letting us play friend! The last shot is of Vivi and I in a big girl room that I'm just going crazy for. Maybe one day!

Elephant Parade & Circus

The Greatest Show on Earth is in town and we got together with some family to prepare by seeing the Elephant Parade downtown. A pleasant surprise was the temperature which was pretty mild. The girls did great and enjoyed seeing each other I think as much as the elephants. (I'm talking about our daughters, but Em and I enjoyed the visit as well!) Daddy and Uncle Tad were champs holding onto the girls the majority of the time and some fun shoulder time too! Nana joined in the fun and played some games with Vivi on the way home with our new clown noses. We made a second round attempt at it taking Vivi to the circus the next night. She was a champ (with zero nap that day!) making to the last 15 minutes were she passed out on daddy's lap. She did light up to see all the activity and I'm so pleased for a tip from a friend to bring your own snacks and stuffed animal. We opted for better seats and brought animal crackers from the grocery store!

Summer is hot-ice cream is a must!

For anyone not in Texas this summer, feel blessed! We have been breaking records for high temperatures including this past weekend up to 107. (Fortunately, this week we've gotten a little reprieve only making it into low 100's.) You start running out of creativity in the heat but I tell you nothing beats ice cream time. Vivi dressed up in her ice cream shirt and enjoyed a tasty treat, even trying to share with our nephew dog Oreo.

"Haircup"

Some call it haircut as well, however you prefer. Vivi likes to give "Haircups" to whoever is willing to sit and have their hair tossled. My dad says this is something I used to do a lot when I was younger, and I'm hoping Vivi will keep the tradition alive! Her supplies include her Big bird brush, comb, a travel size hairspray (she just shakes near your head), a lint brush (she thinks is somehow like scissors), a blow dryer (she actually tries to plug in), and a lollipop mirror (she insists you hold up and look). Sometimes it can get a little messy but mostly it's so relaxing and precious. So far she has extended her services mostly to mommy (grin), daddy, Nana, and Aunt Em. What do you think of her clientele?

Dorian's Luau- My First Party

I've been promising all of you some pictures from my first "official" party so here they are. We had a great time hosting Dorian's 6th Luau. She had many little friends as you'll see and it was a hot day but truly a lot of fun, and I can say I actually felt energized (at least mentally) after the party. Nick was such a sport in giving people leis, serving snow cones, and taking pictures for me. Other than that, this baby is a champ and let me be on my feet for a long day! I didn't capture every shot but you'll get a good idea. Keep on the lookout as I'm sure I'll be creating a website for this business sometime in 2009. Thanks to Sherry for hiring me!
