Week #10-Under the Sea

This past week we celebrated under the sea. We really did a lot of under the sea, or at least, under the water, activity but because of this I didn't get lots of pictures from this week. Still, we are grateful to all who allowed us to make use of their pools as well as sweet friends that watched the kids this week to help us out with appointments and a mini-vacation for Nick and I. I think the kids were in water every single day this week except one. Pretty impressive considering we don't own a pool ourselves! Thank you to the Bruck's, Christina, the Mason's, Em & Tad, and my parents! The kids made great memories swimming and practicing their pool skills as well as having a sleepover with my sister and getting to see "Turbo" with my parents! Nick and I headed to Houston for a college buddies' wedding and got to make a stop at A&M on the way down. We weren't there long but long enough to see all the new buildings, get lost, and jump out to take a couple of pics. We decided this was an early celebration for our anniversary as we will be on the road back from Nick's sister's wedding on our actual anniversary. (For some reason, 18 hours in a car with two kids didn't sound too romantic.) It was really fun reliving some of our memories.

Although a few weeks behind, bear with me, as this was a really fun week! We studied jungle animals of all kinds. During the week, we tried to catch up with friends we haven't gotten to see as much and the weather was a precious gift from God. We took Kyndall and Jack to 3 parrots for Kyndall's birthday. (So sorry we had to miss your party friend but glad we got some play and personal time with you and your family!) Tuesday we headed to the zoo to meet the baby elephant. Many of you have had this chance to visit but not every one is fortunate enough to get a peek. I believe the cooler temperatures helped bring out all the animals. Not only did we see the first baby elephant to grace our city's zoo for 20 years but we also saw a baby rhino and a baby chimpanzee. It was the day for babies! We also got another little blessing in that we ran into a friend of Isaac's, Mason, and his family so we tagged along with them for our zoo day. Thanks Bruck family! Wednesday we had some fun park time with friend's from church and even recruited our neighbors to join in the fun. What a fun time to catch up. Thursday, we got ready to head out to San Antonio to go see Nick's parents and friends. It was a great trip! Friday we had the place to ourselves and I had one goal get Vivian some boots for her Aunt Janna's wedding coming up quickly. (More about that soon enough!) We did have success and we even got to have a date that night with two couple's from our college days. Good to visit with you friends! Thanks to Gail and Bob for a night sans kids. Saturday we got up and moving and headed to the edge of town to Natural Bridge Caverns. I was so excited to show the kids a truly amazing site that I hadn't seen since my childhood days. Even though it's not necessarily jungle animals, I still thought it would be a neat site for the kids and a cool chance to take advantage of our time in San Antonio. They really did well hiking through dark and moist caves and I was uncertain when we first entered. After the cave climb, we had some lunch and then headed out doors to a pretty elaborate ropes course. Isaac was able to do the kids version but Vivian was just a little too tall (all legs!) for the kids version and a little too scared for the big version. (Let's be honest, I was a little scared but Gail was again gracious to keep Vivi and let Nick, Bob, and I go on the big kid version. Sunday we relaxed and had a great leisurely breakfast before the road trip back that was not so relaxing= 6 hours of stop and go traffic! Oh well, glad we made it home safely and soundly. Enjoy the slideshow.

Week #8- Pirates and Pixie Dust

We made it to July and we finally got a few of those lazy summer days I've been wishing for. I am still hoping for more, so if you want to let your kids run around and sit down and visit call us up! This is what I think summer should look like. We spent a few of our days this past week with friends and a few at home. Isaac had one more week of swim lessons so we were still up and moving early but then got to relax some of the days as well. The kids enjoyed treasure hunts, wii games, pirate and fairy books, and some of the Tinkerbelle movies this week at home. We also had a fun lunch with our friends Ellen and Aaron and joined up with some more friends for an afternoon of bowling (good cool fun indoors!). Our church put on a sweet storytime and then we joined many friends over at the Mason's for some swim time. Thank you Heather for your hospitality which humbles me every time! Friday we played with Elizabeth and Victoria including putting on some pirate tattoos. The kids were so cute with these. In the afternoon, we saw a free movie at our library and cashed in our last prizes for the reading program. The kids are really getting some good reading in this summer for which I am grateful! We also enjoyed free slurpees at 7 Eleven for 7-11. Saturday, we had a fun day to get some shopping in and a visit to the pet store. I don't know how long I can hold out on adding a 4 legged friend to our family. Petsmart's adoption area was not helping! Enjoy some highlight pics.

Happy 4th of July! WOW, I can't believe it's already July! It's been a busy summer so far as you can see this past week was no exception. We got to do some fun space things (which mostly involved night time fun) but also making moon dough and soap clouds, heading to the putt-putt with our friends Kaylee and Meghan, some 4th of July fun with my sis and her family, and going to see Despicable Me 2. Our night time fun included the space bath again, glow bubbles, fireworks with our friends the Jones and Bannerots, and a trip to Hawaiian Falls with some friends from daddy's work. Thank you Sun and Kathy! Enjoy the slideshow.

Pretty in Pink babyshower

We had the priviledge of hosting a sweet baby shower for a former co-worker of mine. Sweet Lindy I hope you were honored and I hope baby Jade was too. It was a fun time with co-workers and we all really enjoyed holding the baby. I am sad to confess I didn't get any pics of the mom and baby as the sweet little girl just got passed around the entire shower. What a sweet night.

Well friends we are 6 weeks in and ready for July slow down! I've been so grateful to have VBS and other camp experiences but I'm ready to be home and with friends just "playing" at home. This past week we spent at Mckinney's VBS and for the first time in 5 years I did not work it! I had a week to myself which I had a tinge of guilt on but I prayed and asked God to bless that time of rest and help me be better for my kids with it. I spent most of it planning for a baby shower for a co-worker but also I was able to get some needed rest and time with friends myself. Thank you to mom, Nick, and Kat for taking time with me. Unfortunately, I caught a little head cold and it knocked me out 2 of the days. I didn't quite get to all that I wanted but the kids had a blast. Our cousin got to come visit for part of the time and seemed to have a good time as well. The kids really retained some info from VBS too. I was so grateful for this. We did also visit a vet clinic which Vivi's completely obsessed with becoming one day, so I have been talking to her more and more and trying to get her some experiences and motivation for school. Here are our pics.

Missed a few

Here are a couple of pics from Nick's camera from our Night at the Museum lock in. So much fun!
