Field Day

Field Day, it's such a fun day, as Vivian says "The best school day of the year!" This year I had my mom keep Isaac and have her own crazy day with him. I decided to focus my attention on cheering on Vivian. They did a great job at our school making it fun. It's just funny to me, because all I remember of field day growing up was running, racing, and ribbons. It was so hot, not all this fun snow cones, and water games, and bounce houses. Still, they kept some of the traditional games, tug of war, some chicken races, and lots of fun. Thank you to our wonderful school for hosting such a fun day.

Baseball season ends

Isaac had a fun time in his first season of baseball. I really think the whole team did, they weren't the all stars but that's okay by me! It means our season ends when some are just getting geared up. I enjoyed getting to see some ball and see Isaac interact with those on his team. He really had fun. His last game was his best of the season. He got a triple hit and he got to "pitch" and get a few other players out on first base. I was really proud of all he did in his first time out there!

A Bon Voyage Bash

There are all kinds of goodbyes going on in my life which might explain some of my sad attitude. I am just not one who is good at goodbyes, at the same time I know they are a part of life and when one chapter closes another begins. I am excited about the new chapter! One of those changes includes my boss who retired this year. We threw a little Bon Voyage Party for Ms. Lynda. It was really sweet and the details turned out beautifully. I think most of all she enjoyed it and felt loved. She was a wonderful manager and we did love her and were sad to see her go. We do hope retirement does her well.

My little Prek Graduate

A chapter has closed. Isaac has graduated from Pre-K. It was a little bittersweet saying goodbyes to our two sweet preschools. I am very proud of Isaac and know he is ready for Kindergarten as I am ready for him to start too, but it is still sad saying goodbye to friends and places that have been such a part of our lives for the last few years. It's also change, which is just not always easy. I just want to say thank you to all those who have invested in our little man's life and learning over these last few years. He is well prepared and well loved.
Enjoy some shots of my sweet little man.

My sweet little nephew is already 2! Where has the time gone? My sister did a great job of hosting a little construction party for him. It was so cute and in true fashion detailed to the max. Enjoy the pics! We sure enjoyed the day.

A Weekender

A few weekends back, I had a brief weekend away to help my mother-in-law with some packing as they get ready to move. Daddy got to do solo parenting for the weekend and did a fantastic job. I just had to post a couple of shots of his activity which included Mayfest! Way to go sweet daddy!!

Mother's Day

Mother's day is one of those holidays that falls under the radar it seems to me. I think one of the problems is our expectations. If we let those get the better of us, then it can be disappointing. I found this year to be very pleasing but I kept those ugly "e" words, as my good friend calls them, to a minimum. Here are a couple of shots of some of my treats. I enjoyed a Mother's Day tea at Isaac's preschool. So sweet and a fun tradition! My favorite thing Isaac wrote on his facts of mommy is my favorite food is candy and I weigh 12 pounds. Good math for me! Vivian asked me about her's and I spent a day digging for it, which spurred on a new project I'm sure I'll be blogging about real soon. On the actual day, I got to sleep in, kind of, have a nice breakfast made by my sweetie and a really pretty oil burning candle. I also took to Charmin Charlie's for a little hurrah for myself. All in all a nice day.

April hit, and we had a big family wedding to attend in St. Louis. Ben, or BJ as we affectionately call him, married Hannah in a beautiful natural wedding, with pastels, cold temperatures, and pink bow ties. It was a night to remember! We are so thrilled to call Hannah our newest sister-in-law and she makes a great addition to the Dons clan. Hopefully this is the last Dons wedding for awhile. I have to mention that we did get a lovely day to enjoy a local museum and I want to give a shout out to the City Museum in St. Louis. It was by far the coolest museum, especially for boys, that I've ever been to. Everything there is made from recycled materials and the designer's imagination is unprecedented and without boundaries. We kept climbing through tree houses, and metals cages, into the belly of a fish! It was amazing. Enjoy the slideshow.

Now that it's spring, what do we do?

Let me tell you, we bake.
We play baseball.
We party!
We run.
We go to the zoo.
Mostly, we have a lot of fun!

Spring Break

Every year, Vivian's birthday kicks off Spring break. This year we had a busy one with the sleepover, a few beautiful days, and a whirlwind trip to San Antonio. While we were here we visited the Botanical Gardens and had a picnic. It was lowkey and warm! We then got ready for our trip, painting butterfly nails and packing up. We had to sneak a couple more trips down to SA before my in-laws pack up and move to Chicago. In fact, we helped a little packing up some goodies for BJ to take home to his almost new bride and get their nest set up. Of course, we wouldn't waste the opportunity to visit Sea World while we were down there. We also discovered some old toys, or wires and who knows what in the downstairs closet that the kids kept entertained with for awhile. It was a lovely break and gave me a taste for summer that I'm very much longing for now. Here are a few fav shots.
