Autumn's Roller Skate party

Recently, Vivi and I got to have her first rollerskate experience. She did so great! A friend from school had a rollerskate party and I told Vivi I would go out with her but remembered about my age my mom broke her arm rollerskating. It made me even a little nervous, but I had nothing to fear. Vivi jumped right out there and once we watched a few others go she was ready to try some more. In fact, she was not so happy when we had to leave early for mommy's work. Still, it was a great first run and I'm sure we'll have to do it some more. Here's a couple shots of Vivi with some school friends and the birthday girls' Rapunzel cake. This one was really cute too!

A Dual Gift

I found these great ceramic cupcakes and my original thought was to have both kids make these but after more thought, I decided it would be a project for Vivi and I. We had the best time painting and glittering these cupcakes. We ended up giving one to Cousin Chloe for her birthday and kept one for Vivi's cupcake purple room. So much fun!

My sister decided to mix it up having her first party out of the home and I'm not sure she'll ever go back. It was really sweet. She had a Rapunzel party at the Safari Park (blogged about previously). The kids had a great time jumping in the ball pit, riding the animals and playing putt-putt. This was the first time the daddy's got to experience this park as well. One of the best details of the party was Chloe's cake which was a present from Nana. I thought it turned out beautifully! Enjoy the slideshow.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are a couple of other shots of "Valentine's" gifts or events. They had a muffins with mom event the Tuesday before V-day which was really sweet. Again, just love the school and fortunately this didn't get canceled due to snow. There is a shot or two of the kids with their treats from Nana which was adopted pets from the zoo. They love love their new monkey and tiger. These new pets pretty much go anywhere the kids go. Aunt Em got the kids tin which were in a previous picture, and Gigi sent a cookie bouquet. Okay, my kids are totally spoiled rotten! I guess I am too. The beautiful orchid is from my husband along with a nice nice letter. It reminded him of this perfect flower they are trying to get to in "Gnomeo and Juliet". Too awesome! Finally, I have a picture of Vivi with her kitty kat she created for Valentine's at school. I think we all had a great day.

14 days of Valentine's

This year, I decided to try and give a gift for our sweet little mailboxes. One gift every day of February leading up to Valentine's day. Here are a few shots of the kids enjoying their little treats. If you are wondering what kind of 14 (or rather 28 gifts since 2 kids)I would give think dollar bin treats- punch balls, stickers, sunglasses, candy necklaces, straws with flavored milk, silly bandz, books, window stickers, cute juice bottles, sun catchers, gum and tic tacs, movie tickets to "Gnomeo and Juliet", and chocolates. I tried to avoid spending too much on any one gift but I think it kept the kids entertained in this cold season.

Whooops-missed the Stock show!

Oh yeah, but we didn't miss the stock show this year, I just missed blogging about it! We actually went the last weekend which was spring like weather and wonderful!! Here are some fun shots. My parents treated us to see a mini pony show where they dressed up. I didn't get any shots but the kids had a great time. Mostly, the carnival was the big hit. Isaac threw a good whopper when we had to leave the motorcycles, I'm in trouble!

New Year-New rooms

For Christmas this year, we decided it was time to upgrade Vivi to a big girl room. I reused many items and repurposed others. We did order her a twin trundle bed so we could have sleepovers as she got bigger and a nightstand. Gigi gave both kids new bedding for their big gift. Other than that, we traded some furniture with my parents replacing handles to give them a facelift and replacing the material on the desk chair to match our new bedding. I got the kids new little reading chairs for Christmas as well. Recently, I painted Vivi's bookcase to match the new colors. Also, I made her two pushboards with leftover material from the chair. The bedding is so sweet and really coincides well with Vivi's old goodies. It has birds, butterflies, cupcakes, and polka dots and is primarily purple/green/yellow with touches of pink. I really enjoyed giving her room a big girl feel. Just when I thought we're about done, we run into that day I posted about a little ago. Isaac learned to jump out of his crib, so we went ahead and took the slats off his crib and made his room into a big boy room. Fortunately, we got the bedding from Gigi and a new chair. Other than that, I just got him some new art work. I feel like it works better than before with all our colors. Enjoy the shots.

What do you do when it's colder than freezing out?

So...here's what the Dons do when it's colder than freezing out. We, paint, we make snow angels, we do laundry, we shoot hoops, we color, we snuggle on the couch, we play cars games, we ride daddy's horsey, we make chocolate playdoh, we do breathing treatments, we create Valentine's mailboxes, we hang out our boots to dry, we watch movies with popcorn and soda pop, we play gummy man (our superhero with gummy vitamins), we try to stay warm! Are you seeing double snow angels? (most of you are singing "Double rainbow across the sky now!") yes mommy is getting a little cabin fever!
