This past week was a FUN one! We bought a packet of ideas from a blog I found that I have gotten tons of inspiration from and this packet was all art ideas themed around rainbow. She even had some songs and books recommended to go with it. We really had fun with the whole rainbow idea. We focused on a different color of the rainbow each day and tried one craft a day (which was enough). Unfortunately, Isaac got sick again late in the week so things slowed down after that, and mommy was gone for a shopping trip over the weekend so daddy was on his own again. Still, he did great with the kids holding on to parts of the theme. Enjoy the slideshow.

A New Orleans weekend

This past weekend daddy went for a road trip from San Antonio to Atlanta and through New Orleans, so I decided to play off his travel a little bit and we talked about Louisiana a little this weekend. Main three things were we watched "Princess and the Frog" and brought out the beads. We ate at Razoos for some cajun flavor. Finally, we made Mardi Gras masks and paraded around with them. It was fun and kept us distracted while daddy was away.

This past week we studied the circus. It was a bit of a three-ring-circus of a week- not only were we trying to keep our themes going (and in this heat!). It was also Nick's last week at the company he's been with for 6 years. He also left for a trip on Thursday early early morning and was gone all weekend. Finally, I was also interviewing for a position I'm hoping to get for part-time work as I am trying to find something for evenings and weekends. So...needless to say we were busy!

Monday we stayed close to home eating animal crackers, watching "Bug's Life" (which has a circus act in it) and working on our circus act with hula hoops, balls, and music. Tuesday we attempted the zoo with our good friends Amelia and Jillian only a small small section because of the heat, but we were targeting "circus" animals- monkeys, giraffes, elephants. That afternoon we took on our big craft project painting a circus train and then we took some rides around our house with our circus animals. Wednesday I had my interview, so Nana set up an awesome three ring circus act with the kids. Vivi and I were able to sneak away to the library to trade in our under the sea books for circus books, and more. We attempted to find "Dumbo" but it's a lost cause. That evening we made clown hats and did some clowning around. Thursday, we said goodbye to daddy and then headed to my sister's for sleepover. Friday we woke-up and headed to the actual circus. Thank you Nana and Papa!! It was a blast!! We hit the dollar bins at Target on Thursday and found the jackpot of cotton candy and animal crackers so we brought them along. The kids did really great. Vivi's favorite part was getting a sparkly pony which she calls Sparkle. Isaac's favorite part was the people being shot out of the cannons so we got him a little cannon with a flying little guy. It actually shoots him out. Enjoy the shots.

Ahoy matey! This week was under the sea and was loads of fun. Check out our slideshow. A few highlights. Vivi got her first My little Pet Shop (an acquarium with a crab and frog), swimming with friends Ellen and Aaron (Isaac discovered their hose!), painting shells with mommy, Vivi's mermaid mosaic with Nana & Papa, Burger's Lake with our whole family, and finally some recycled under the sea creatures both kids helped with.

Week #9 Pets

This past week was a little slower as far as our themes go mainly because both kids got a little sick different days of this week and mommy and daddy had a lot going on themselves.
However...we did still spend lots of time with friend's pets including our favorite nephew dog Oreo, a special dinner with some friends who had a sweet dog named Gracie (thanks for dinner Stephanie!), and a daytime playdate with Ellen and Aaron and their dog Yager. We did also enjoy a run through a pet store, the Build a Bear store at the mall, and plenty of pet focused movies- "Aristocats" (multiple times, thanks Missie!)& "Lady and the Tramp". We did also get to make a fun craft of pet puppets, doggie sticker sheets, and pet shop signs and spent many hours playing with all of our stuffed pets including giving them vet treatments and beauty shop time too. Here are a few pics.
