Happy 60th Nana!

In the middle of December we get to celebrate the birth of another treasured person-our Nana! This year was her 60th so we wanted to do something special. Em and I pulled together a semi-suprise tea lunch with a couple of mom's close friends and family. It was a nice time and I think she was somewhat surprised, mostly by her sister and nieces and nephews coming up from 3 hours away! Thank you Aunt Beck for making it a special day. We love you Nana and hope you had a nice day!

Our Christmas Set-up

For the first time in many years, I can actually say I really enjoyed the whole process of putting up and taking down our Christmas. Of course, your house gets really crowded and messy but I just love the joy that Christmas season deco brings to our home, and the warmth and just coziness of all of it. It really reminds me actually of the whole reason for the season Jesus. Also, we continued with our tradition of the Jesse Tree. This year our kids really got into the old testament Bible stories. It was fun sitting down and reading these. When we got to Isaac's story in the Bible, my Isaac pointed at all the pictures (Abraham) "This is daddy," (Sarah) "This is you mommy," and (Isaac) "This is me. Mommy, why is daddy holding a knife over me?" I thought we might have some major explaining to do to his preschool teacher. We had to walk through this story the best we could, however I think kids really want to be a part of the Big Story of God. They do have a part in it as well, I tell them this. We have an opportunity to respond to Jesus' story and He is writing our story as well. I hope they will remember all of this as they get older.
One other helper, a nativity Little People scene (an early present from Gigi). Oh my goodness, it's still up in our living room! What fun!

A New Group and Possibly a New Tradition

We have been with our new church group now for about a year, and so we have brought back some old traditions like a Christmas party at our house with party pants...but wait! We forgot the party pants! Have no fear, Isaac provided plenty of laughs with his new ensemble. Thanks so much Eric!

Our Thanksgiving was pretty low key this year. We were in town and we did have our Gigi come be with our family. Truly there wasn't too much to it. We did get to make blessing mix and take it to the nursing home. We did get to catch a date too- Finally I got to see "Breaking Dawn"! It was good but not quite what we expected. Unfortunately, our time was cut a little short as my grandad got sick that day. We are still praying for Grandpopo. We finished out our visit with Gigi heading downtown to see some parade of lights. It was really crowded and I didn't see anything but I think the kids got to! We hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving this year!

More fun on Picture Day

We decided to make the most of our picture day as we were all fixed up across town. So we took the kids to a really nice mall and walked around checking out the HUGE Christmas tree, carousel, and a fun lunch. Here's a couple of shots from this!

A Day of Pictures

Many of you may have seen our family pictures taken on Facebook. But for those of you who haven't enjoy. We took a day to have a friend take these pictures. We were so pleased with how they turned out.

My apologies to any readers I have remaining after this! I realize I've gotten really far behind and just have had a hard time making time to be on the computer. Better late than never, I always say so here is a post on Isaac's birthday. It was a lovely 80 degree day in November (the only one) and in between sickies I was able to squeeze out Isaac's birthday. We hosted a Curious George carnival in our backyard with face painting, jump house, games, pinata, and all the carnival type food we could muster up. The kids had a blast jumping, eating, dancing to a fun party mix (great job to hubbie), and Isaac's favorite thing-passing out tickets to all of his guests. The cake was from a local bakery, thank you Nana. It just was a sweet day. Enjoy the slideshow.
